Ana María León
This session of the colloquium is going to focus on the nature of the relationship between research and activism, with our main speakers Bryce Detroit and Ana María León from Detroit Resists. Questions will include: In what ways do academic research and activism come together? Can research be activist? What is the role of self-reflexivity and criticality in defining activism in research? What are the ethical responsibilities of research and how can they be related to activism? How does the academic constraints boost or limit research’s capacity to be activist? Is there a clear-cut divide between the researcher and the practitioner involved in activism?
